All about the Khartoum Circuit I – 5 Days (2nd – 6th February).

Starting off from Khartoum, discover the northern state of Sudan. Explore old Dongola, Karima, Meroe, Naga and Musawwarat.

  • 4×4 car rent with a/c.
  • Fuel and road fees.
  • Tour Guide fees. Please note that a team of tour guides work for Real Sudan and therefore tours guided by Samir are dependent upon his availability. All RS tour guides are fluent in English and university graduates with degrees in Sudan history.
  • Entry fees.
  • All meals and bottled water outside Khartoum. Breakfast normally consists of egg, cheese, and Jam. Lunch is a light meal, normally Tuna, cheese and chips. Dinner is the main meal, normally consisting of soup, cooked veg, chicken or meat. Bottled water, all hot and cold drinks are included.
  • All Accommodations. Hotel in Khartoum, camping or local guest houses outside Khartoum. Camping or staying in a local guest house is to be decided by the tour guide after consulting with you.
  • Traveling permits and photos permission.
  • Registration fees.
  • Invitation letter.

  1. Day1 - 2nd February Khartoum
    • National Museum.  Confluence of the Nile.  Republican Palace Museum (except Mon and Sat).   Kitchener Gunboat.  Khalifa House.  Imam El Mahdi Tomb.  Om Dorman local Market.
    • Afternoon: Attend the Sufi ritual in Hamed El Nile (Friday only).  Or the Nubian Wrestling (Fri–Sat–Wed)

    Note: Most of Khartoum historical attractions close in Mon.

  2. Day2 - 3rd February Old Dongola
    • Khartoum to Old Dongola from the West road.  About 400 km on a tar road, about 5 hours drive including lunch stop.
    • Explore Old Dongola
    • Night stay in Old Dongola.
    • All meals and water included.
  3. Day3 - 4th February Karima
    • Breakfast.
    • Drive to Karima.
    • Stop at El Kurru on the way to Karima.
    • Arrive in Karima, hike Jebel Barkal to watch the amazing sunset.
    • Dinner and night stay in Karima.
  4. Day4 - 5th February Nuri & Bayuda Desert
    • Breakfast.
    • Visit the Temple of Jebel Berkal and its local museum.
    • Visit Nuri.
    • Drive across Bayuda desert.
    • Visit a local Bedouin community on the way.
    • Arrive in Meroe Pyramids field.
    • Dinner and stay overnight
  5. Day5 - 6th February Meroe
    • Breakfast.
    • Explore Meroe pyramids and visit the Royal city.
    • Drive to Naga and Musawwarat and visit its temples.  During the rain season (end of June–July–Aug–Sept), visiting Naga and Musawwarat would be impossible if there’s rain in the valley leads to these sites.
    • Drive to Khartoum, arrives in Khartoum before the sun set.  If time permits, we can add the 6th Cataract (Sabaloka)

In Khartoum: Acropole hotel – 1 night.

Note: There is a luxury accommodation available in Khartoum (Al Salam Rotana and Corinthia hotels), in Meroe (The Tented camp) and Karima (The Nubian Guest House).  Let me know if you would like to upgrade to them.
